Tamlin Lundberg

I am an artist / maker who uses various media, ranging from porcelain and cloth, to video and sound, to create work which invites the viewer into a ‘shared experience’. My creative practice is generated by the direct experience of an exchange with my environment and I employ myself as a conduit who retains impressions and traces of these interactions. I retell, remember, or reflect, a place, event, emotion or atmosphere by creating work that offers time for contemplation, a moment’s pause amidst the frenetic events of everyday life. I use both cloth and clay for their temporal qualities, as a canvas, membrane or screen to record traces, reveal interactions and relay stories. Cloth has an intrinsic and intimate relationship to people, it communicates shelter, dwelling and warmth; it is a second skin that defines who we are, it betrays unconscious associations and triggers involuntary memories. I facilitate and make more visible or some of the hidden connections that exist in the liminal space between our surroundings and ourselves.
