For an artist Norfolk provides an ever changing canvas of light and inspiration.
My work is about exploring the landscape and the north Norfolk coast where I often escape to enjoy brisk walks with my sketch book and camera. Having discovered an interesting place to work I enjoy returning to the same spot to develop a series of challenging and energetic works full of mark making techniques that reflect the natural rhythm of the land. From these initial ideas and sketches I then continue to develop my ideas working with a range of media such as tissue paper, plaster, water based oils and acrylics. The work varies from light thin washes of colour to heavily impasto textures that help to raise the surface of the canvas. Some of my recent work has been inspired by the view of the marshes around Wiveton Café and further along the North Norfolk coast to Blakeney, Wells and Brancaster Staithe.
